  • Scope1:
    • Calculated based on GHG emission coefficients for different fuel types released by the institutions such as the Ministry of the Environment and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) according to the amount of gasoline and diesel oil purchased by GEO Group in billing statements each fiscal year
  • Scope2:
    • “Market-based” method, in which emission factors are applied to each type of electricity used, such as those derived from renewable energy sources, and “location-based” method, in which emission factors are calculated based on the average emission factor for the entire region
    • Calculated based on greenhouse gas emission coefficients for power consumption released by the institutions such as the Ministry of the Environment and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) according to the power consumption in GEO Group electricity billing statements each fiscal year
    • For FY2024 and FY2025, estimates were used for sites with insufficient actual data, in addition to sites where power consumption data was available
    • For sites outside Japan in FY2024, location-based calculation values were also adopted for market-based values
  • Scope3:
    • Calculation based on GHG protocols for each year’s data owned by the company group
    • Scope3 “1. Purchased goods and services” includes products purchased from customers
    • As a result of the calculation,Scope3 “9. Transportation and delivery (downstream)” is deemed to have a smaller impact because of its small value and so is not included
    • We are currently investigating how to calculate emissions derived from fuel for Scope3 “14. Franchises”. Emissions derived from power calculated using estimated values based on the Scope 2 measurement data
    • Additionally, whether to calculate categories with “-” for GHG emissions is undecided
